Nik Cotten
My name is Nik. I’m 23 years old. I’ve been interested in photography my whole life. I’ve been obsessed with it for the last 6 years.
I love working with people, I love collecting moments and holding on to them, I love the technical aspect like learning new cameras, exploring different printing processes and getting familiar with new technology.
Most of all, I love the look on someone’s face when they receive some great photos that make them feel good about themselves. That’s what I want to do forever.
I’ve come to love shooting many different things. Besides living every day with a point and shoot in my pocket, the thing I love shooting and being around the most has to be skateboarding, it has taught me so much about the principles of photography, like lighting, timing and composition. I also love shooting concerts. Similar to skateboarding, it was one of the first things I learned how to shoot. I’ve also grown to be fascinated by fashion studio work. I’ve learned so much about lighting and collaborating with people through shooting in the studio. Film is my ultimate love; I shoot all of my personal work on film and often try to fit it into everything I do.
My goal is to grow as a photographer and as a person through capturing moments and taking photos of others.
